Device Gallery

Mobile Research Corp. device database picture
In doing some early Spring Cleaning this year, I organized all my devices that I have used in the past into a bin. After looking at all the phones that I have used over the past years, I decided to “chronicle” each device in the order that I used the device. Click on the Device Gallery link to see all the devices spanning from 1993 until now. As I continue to use devices for periods of time, I’ll keep updating the Device Gallery.

3GSM World Congress 2007 Barcelona

3GSM World Congress 2007, Barcelona, Spain
Oh the places you will go! Lions, tigers and bears, oh my! Well, there were certainly a lot of sights and sounds at this years 3GSM. While there is always a lot to report and talk about, I let the journalists and other report about the headline stories and breaking news. Besides, there are always things that get missed and other people pick them up.The best business card that I ran across while walking through the halls, is My Cherry Mobile.
My Cherry Mobile
The company describes itself:

Welcome to Cherry – the premier low cost international mobile network operator. The Cherry sim card is designed to work in the majority of countries worldwide, ensuring you are always connected.”

Fashion at 3GSM
I seem to recall that a few years ago at 3GSM, a fashion show was one of the highlights where models were showing off wearable mobile accessories. Now that there are plenty of handsets to chose from in every color, size, shape, it is time to get back to the basics. This jacket from Eleksen Group shows off embedded sensors woven into the fabric. Some of their other products are fabric keyboards and touchpads. Much like the autos on the road, which are chocked full circuit boards and laser, and hard drives, so too are the clothes we wear, evolving. Let’s just hope that protection and standards are in place to prevent shock and malfunction!

While there were plenty of other side events to attend during the show, such as the iHollywood Forum as well as the numerous corporate parties, one event that was good fun was the Mobile Monday Peer Awards event.

So what else is there to report? Well, lots, but I figure you’ve scoured enough on other blogs, news sites and Googling, flkr[ing], and MySpace[ing] terms: “3GSM Barcelona” that you don’t need me to rehash and repeat the news.

Coin operated mobile phone recharging station

Battery Recharging Kiosk in Shanghai

The last time I was in Shanghai I noticed this battery recharge kiosk. Forgot to post this on my blog as it got shuffled into the pictures from my trip to China. Perhaps this is the modern phone booth? Instead of paying for minutes to talk, you pay for minutes to recharge your battery. Now if only there was a chair to sit on while waiting for my handset to recharge…
