Thank to Mikko, I got to meet Oliver Marks. He has in turn, asked me to moderate a panel at the upcoming Office 2.0 Conference which will be held in San Francsico at the St. Regis Hotel from September 3rd to 5th. You can read more about the conference here.

I recently upgraded to WordPress 2.6.1 and have seen some minor improvements with managing Mobileslate. Also, a few of my readers asked for a subscribe to comments plug-in so that you can get notified when a new comment from a particular post has been updated. Continue Reading →
I am happy to announce that United Mobile will sponsor the CTIA 2008 San Francisco Party List. Since last year, I have put together a list of social events for CTIA and Mobile World Congress. As the popularity grows and the word gets out, it’s great to know that lots of people are taking advantage of the site! The CTIA 2008 San Francisco Party List can be found here.
For party alerts on your mobile phone, TEXT: CTIA to 99134 70734.
CTIA 2008 San Francisco is almost here. In just a few weeks, thousands will descend on San Francisco heating up the airwaves. But we all need places to socialize and network.
The list of social events are posted here: CTIA 2008 San Francisco Party List
Mobileslate has partnered with Textopoly again for the CTIA Party Alerts.
So how does it work? Here’s a short demo using the Apple iPhone.

Well, this is perhaps one of the more innovative ways to engage the people for the election. Get them to subscribe via text so that tomorrow morning, we can all find out whom Barack Obama will pick for his Vice President nominee. The buzz seems to be taken from a chapter from Steve Jobs? Aside from all the political analysts that have been jockeying for position and getting the latest scoop on political paparazzi, I think that Obama’s team has done a great job at embracing technology and using low cost methods such as email, YouTube and text message.
Well, I guess it was bound to happen at some point. Either I’m getting really popular or my web host was the target of a Dynamic Denial of Service Attack. No email, no blog, no posts. What a large waste of time!
And if that wasn’t bad enough Customer Support told me that there were two attacks in one day. One at 7am and the 2nd at 11am. Thanks to everyone who sent me IM and emails to let me know that my site was having issues. Things seem to have returned to normal now.

The last post about the Apple iPhone software update came nearly two weeks ago before the second update arrived. This seems rather unusual for these updates to come so close to each other. Is Apple losing its svelte status with the iPhone? One of the first things that I noticed with this update over the last one was that it worked more smoothly. However, it is still rather annoying that I had to download over 250MB for the entire image, then spend even more time waiting for the update to install, reboot my iPhone, then get back to a normal state. In relative comparison, my Windows Vista updates are smaller in size and quick to install.

When I first heard about this device, I thought it to be one of the more quirky looking mobile devices. The device labeled “Blitz” is made by UT Starcom, model TXT8010. Typically a phone is shaped like a rectangular candy bar, but this looked more like a thin, blue Klondike bar. The device initially looks like a “low end device” geared for the teenage crowd. But after you open the slider and see all the features you realize that this it quite a capable device. It can be configured to access email and surf the web, play music, games and much more. The compact size and large screen size make it a viable competitor to the Blackberry Pearl. With a microSD slot with support up to 4GB, stereo Bluetooth, a 1.3 megapixel cam, and VZ Navigator, it certainly is not skimpy on features.

Well, the Beijing Olympics has start and while I’m in the US watching, I have been glued to the TV watching some of my favorite sports and also paying particular attention to the advertisements. One in particular is the AT&T commercial (below) for their mobile video service. For Americans who love to watch sports where USA is competing, NBC and AT&T working to provide coverage through TV, your computer and even your mobile phone.
It’s here. Fix those iBugs you have been complaining about. Based on the numeric scheme of this fix, it’s not a major release, so those who are still asking for new features like “Copy & Paste”, the ability to talk and send an email, and a few others will probably not be in this patch.
But at 250MB it’s not a simple update – it would seem like this is the entire new download image (presumably to accommodate the 1.0 users who have yet to upgrade?)
