Well, I guess like most people, I wanted to help out the economy and participate in Black Friday 2008. I noticed that a lot of people using their mobile, either to kill time or maximize productivity.

Kid waiting for mom in the Macy’s Women’s Shoe Department, texting or playing a game.

Women in Macy’s using two mobile phones, one in each hand, to maximize her deals, buys and meeting up.

Thanksgiving is over and no doubt there are people already waiting in line to begin the Holiday Shopping Season by participating in Black Friday 2008. In looking at quite a few of the ads, lots of retail stores, not just the mobile operator retail stores are advertising bundles on mobile phones with bluetooth headsets or sub-$50 phones.

On Friday, November 21st, the Blackberry 9530 Storm landed in the US. This device was launching on the Verzion network with the capability of roaming Internationally in Europe and Asia. The commercials, the posters and the general buzz about the device seemed to be taken from the Apple iPhone playbook. The press and bloggers talked about possible lines at Verizon stores in anticipation of the device. The Blackberry Bold launched a few weeks ago on AT&T, but because the iPhone has set the new standard and demands for a full touchscreen is “en vogue” the Storm perhaps could challenge iPhones appeal.
So the aftermath of taking installing iPhone 2.2 Update has some resolutions.
After my iPhone was bricked and was not being recognized by my computer, I took it over to the nearest Apple Store. Thankfully on a Friday afternoon, they were not too busy so no appointment necessary.
Simply plugging in my iPhone to their service Macbooks, restored the device to a starting point, but none of my data was saved. Well, the next step was to try and sync my device again. I did quite a few searches to see how to remedy my problem, but none of the solutions seem to work. Continue Reading →

This video is a comedy, but worthy to note that we are approaching this “type” of thinking.
While some of the scenarios in the video are funny, some of them might be more practical as people are starting to integrating their mobile phone into everyday life such as personal health. Perhaps some people might even be inspired to build technologies to deliver on some of these scenarios; although exploding handsets are probably lower on my list of interesting innovations.

Just got my notification that the new version of the iPhone 2.2 software is out. What’s in store for the latest set of patches? Here what the installer says about the Updates:
iPhone 2.2 Software Update
This update contains many bug fixes and improvements, including the following:
• Enhancements to Maps
- Google Street View
- public transit and walking directions
- display address of dropped pins
- share location via email
• Enhancements to Mail
- resolved isolated issues with scheduled fetching of email
- improved formatting of wide HTML email
• Improved stability and performance of Safari
• Podcasts are now available for download in iTunes application (over Wi-Fi and cellular network)
• Decrease in call set-up failures and call drops
• Improved sound quality of visual voicemail messages
• Pressing the Home button from any Home screen takes you to the first Home screen
• Preference to turn on/off auto-correction in Keyboard Settings
Well, it’s funny that part of daily conversation or an ice breaker with new people I meet is to ask about their iPhone problems. One thing that I have observed is that what I experience is not the same as others. I have seen a great improvement in battery life where others have not. I still have some syncing issues with email where other people have not. So for me, it would seem that the 2.2 Update might resolve some outstanding issues on my checklist of To Be Fixed.

One thing I am still not a fan of is the fact that I need to download a large file (246.4MB) in order to perform an update.
While performing the update on my device, I received this message:

And my iPhone won’t boot; it shows a USB plug with an arrow point to an iTunes icon on the screen. I guess when I figure out how to resolve my problem, I’ll put up another post.
