  • mobileslate
nycolle: Can you let me know the steps and keys you pressed?
  • kareemomara
ok so i did all the steps as stated and the phone unlocked just fine. the problem came up as soon as i put in my t-mobile sim card. it requested a sim password and ive tried everthing from 1234, 0000, 00000000 you name it and ive probably tried it. what do you recommend i do?
  • mobileslate
kareemomara: You can contact T-Mobile if you are requesting the SIM password. They should be able to provide this to you free of charge. If you are trying to get the Subsidy Unlock code to unlock the handset, there is no universal unlock code, each unlock code is specific to each device. You can also try contacting T-Mobile or using an online subsidy unlock code.

hi eric, I bought a samsung eternity and paid full price for it from bestbuy yesterday. Couse I want to use this phone in my country (turkey) I consulted a Bestbuy rep and he said to me that activation process is very easy but I can not help you couse we sell at&t products and it is kind of prohibited to give such information to the customers. Just as I arrived my hotel I tried to activate it looking up some websites. But unfortunately after 5 times misentering the phone has been frozen. Do I need an unfreeze code for it? or the phone is totally useless for me :(
  • mobileslate
muratnayal: If you can contact AT&T Technical Support, you can request the subsidy unlock code as you paid full price for the phone. If they need to, you can fax them the receipt.

Can you also tell me what keys you pressed to double-check the unlock process?
  • muratnayal
thank you for your prompt reply. I changed my phone with an unlocked one and got over it in a way.

    muratnayal: Glad that it worked.

Hello, I'm going to China in about 2 weeks (actually, exactly two weeks. On July 6 :D...) and it's a class trip (mandarin class)... But I'm wondering if i should even bother unlocking my phone because I probably won't be using it. Well... (My real question)

*I bought my phone at an ATT store.
*I bought it with my 2 YR Agreement Savings thing (So I've been with ATT for pretty much 2 years-ish now)... However, me and my brother ended up not filling out the savings application (sorry, I forgot what it's called. But it's a forum or something we got so we can get the discount). Does this mean we payed full price? If it does, will sending in my receipt do anything? (Because it says we still saved $130.00 although we never filled out our application.)
    -

But the actual steps I'll need to do is:
    1. Call in customer service (Should I do this on a land-line or my phone?)
    2. Tell them I'm going overseas (do I need to provide why?)
    3. give them my IMEI
(Do I absolutely need to fax them in my receipt? Because I don't have a fax machine, but I can use my neighbor's as they're going on the trip as well...)
And I can't think of anything else...

    -----
Some other info you might wanna know...
.I've had my Eternity since pretty much the end of February (four months-ish?).
.However, I've been with ATT for at least 2 years.

Thanks mate, sorry my post is very messy. I'm kind of in a hurry packing and stuff.

    Thanks again!

    Brian
