LG CU915 CU920 Vu Network Configuration Settings

LG VuBased on the overwhelming response about Subsidy Unlock Instructions for the LG CU920 and LG CU915, I finally got around to helping all those who have been coming to my blog asking about the LG CU915 and CU920 (Vu) with network configuration questions, beyond the Subsidy Unlock instructions.

Sorry it’s taken me a while to explain some of this, but I wanted to get some screenshots, since that’s much easier than trying to explain everything using text. Below are Step-by-Step Instructions on how to Configure SMS, MMS and WAP settings.

I have an LG VU CU920 cell phone with a puk passcode. How can i unblock the PUK code to gain accesss to my cellphone. Thanks
  • mobileslate
The PUK code unblocks the SIM card. This is different than the Subsidy Unlock Code that is for the device.

heybare: The TV service is only available on AT&T. For Internet access, what mobile operator are you trying to use this device with?

Last Monday I purchased an LG VU CU920 cell phone. When I'm on the phone the KEYPAD is displayed and the LOCK comes on after 2 seconds and I have to tap the UNLOCK button to use the keypad. This makes it difficult to use the phone. How can I clear/stop this from happening?
  • mobileslate
trapper3825: I think you are talking about the Keypad lock? Adjusting the Keypad lock can be changes in the Settings menu.

Could you guys help me set up the MMS settings for T-Mobile service on my At&t LG Incite phone. I have the phone unlocked, and i am able to make and receive calls and SMS messaging, but I cannot get the MMS settings right and working. Please help!
  • mobileslate
markscott0102: You can contact T-Mobile Customer Care and ask them. Alternatively, you can try: http://tmobileuspublic.wdsglobal.com/

Nene's T-Mobile advice worked like a dream. Thanks a lot!
  • loregonza
How can I change the AT&T network to T-mobile network for making phone calls? My phone is unlocked but still can't use my T-mobile SIM card...any help? thanks
  • loregonza: If the device has been "subsidy" unlocked, you can make phone call simply by putting the T-Mobile SIM card in correctly. If the SIM card is not inserted correctly or the device has not been *properly* unlocked, it will not work.

One more thing : the WAP connection works great.
  • Pippo
That's exactly what I did, to be precise the service center number (SMS mailbox number) for Vodafone Italy is +393492000200 and doesn't work. Furthermore MMS doesn't send neither, but both receive allright.
I've been reading on the net that there is a switch to activate from 8 bit to 7 bit something or viceversa (that was somebody with a similar problem but different phone brand) somebody else also had the SIM replaced with good result.
The fact is that the SIM is new and both MMS and SMS on my other phone (Nokia 6300) with same setting send out fine and I'm starting to have nightmares about this ...

    Thanks again

    Pippo

I unlocked the phone following the instructions OK, I managed to set up WAP connection which does fine, MMS it should work but I don't have confirmation yet but I'm not concerned 'cause through Italian Vodafone that is a very expensive service and I seldom use anyway. The sore point is the SMS text messages that seems to be resistant to any kind of persuasion, it receives fine, the number is correct 100% but ... it fails to send. I tried nth times but to no avail. The problem is that I use SMS a lot (very common in Italy), and without that the phone is almost of no practical everyday use. Are we sure the phone is transmitting SMS protocol ?
Thanks anyway for the great support
  • Pippo: The problem is that you need to program in the phone number into the phone so that it can understand where to route your text messages to. You can contact the mobile operator you are using and ask them to provide you the SMS mailbox number. Once you have done this, you should be able to send and receive text messages.

I am reposting this comment from the LG Vu Unlock Page to help those who want to configure T-Mobile USA. - Eric.

    ---------------------------------
That’s Ok and I have the issue resolved. If anyone needs help then this is the resolution:

step 1 is for both mms and t-zones, 2 is for mms, 3 is for t-zones.

    here are my settings:

    1) Go to Settings>More>Connection>Network Profiles and create a new profile. Enter these settings:

    Name: T-Mobile WAP
    Bearer: GPRS
    Authentication: PAP
    User Name: [blank]
    Password: [blank]
    APN: epc.tmobile.com

    2) Go to Messages>Message Settings>Multimedia Message>Message Center, click on options and choose New. Enter these settings:

    Name: T-Mobile MMS
    MMSC URL: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    MMSC Proxy: 216.155.174.050
    MMSC Port: 8080
    Connection Mode: TCP without Proxy
    Network Profile: T-Mobile WAP

3)Go to MEdia Net>Browser Settings>Accounts and click on New up in the upper right corner. Enter these settings:

    Name: T-Zones
    Homepage: http://wap.t-zones.com
    Connection Mode: TCP with Proxy
    Proxy Address: 216.155.165.050
    Proxy Port Number: 8080
    Security: Non-secure
    Time Out*: 150
    Network Profile: T-Mobile WAP

*Time out can be set up to 300. It is measured in seconds.

MAKE SURE YOU SAVE AND SET ALL OF THE NEW SETTINGS SO THAT THEY ARE THE ONES CURRENTLY IN USE AFTER MAKING THEM!

    Good Luck Everyone!
