Carnival of Mobilists #240

Well, after the double-shot of Carnival of Mobilists #239 where I wrote up two weeks of posts, I am hosting back to back with #240. Before we start the posts, Peggy asked me to make a special mention that this week, Carnival of Mobilists celebrates its Fifth Anniversary. Great that over the years, this list has continued on.

Dave Olsen starts us off with a double-shot: First, his post sharing some numbers about the Mobile Web and the Year in Numbers. Pay close attention to the graphs on this post, they are quite informative about college student behavior. Second, his post about Developing a Progressive Mobile Strategy, a strategy focused on offering very basic interfaces to information from which other services can pull and then progressively create more complex interactions based on device type and device reach.

Mark Bridge over at interviews Dave Tharp from Roulette Cricket recently voted runner-up of the Vodafone Mobile Clicks mobile start-up competition.

Monty Munford recently visited Finland and visited the folks at Rovio, the team behind Angry Birds. His YouTube video shows a live demonstration of the successful game.

Andy Favell gives us a double-shot with his two posts. First, if you missed the Mobile Marketing Association 2010 Global Awards, you can read about the finalists and there is even some video coverage. Second, there is an interview with the Selly Muzammil from the United Nations World Food Programme; some great thoughts about how mobile is being integrated into this program.

Steven Hoober writes this week about What Mobile Convergence Means

my key takeaway for designers (and product developers, and marketers, and everyone else really) is to make your mobile services decently useful, pretty darn usable, and really, really easy to find.

Rudy De Waele writes about the upcoming Design for the Networked City at the Mobile Design Conference taking place later this month (Oct. 21, 2010) in Barcelona.

And last but not least, my submission (Mobileslate) for this edition of CoM #240 is my announcement that I have added Angel Investor to the list of activities in mobile.
