On the AT&T Network, to unlock the Samsung SGH-A117:
- Power on without SIM
- Type in #7465625*638*Unlock code# (8 digit unlock code*)
- Device should say: “Network Lock Deactivated”
- Phone may automatically reboot

*The 8 digit code can be obtained by calling AT&T Technical Support and given the representative the IMEI number. In exchange they will give you the Subsidy Unlock Code.
To obtain the IMEI number press *#06# on your mobile device.

Has anyone tried this?
Is the IMEI the only requirement to get the 8 digit code from AT&T?
Thank you.
Terry: I have tried these instructions and have successfully unlocked this device.
Once you give the IMEI number to AT&T Customer Service, you also need to give them a reason. Typically I tell them that I am leaving the country and need the device unlocked when I travel.
called at&t got the 8 digit number, put in twice, phone does not do anything, above the numbers says emergence calls please advise.
cash: Can you describe in more detail the key sequence you entered to unlock the phone?
this works great and no problem with AT&T customer service. I called with my IME number already written down and I just said like Eric said I just said I was going on a trip out of the country in a week and I would like to unlock my phone. He said ok sir do you already have the IME number and I did so I read it off to him and voila about 30 seconds later I had my 8 digit unlock code. Piece of cake. Thanks all.
Daniel West: Glad it worked for you.
