How to Unlock Samsung SGH-A127 UPDATED

On the AT&T Network, to unlock the Samsung SGH-A127:

  • Power on without SIM
  • #0111*unlock code # (unlock code = 8 digit number)
  • Device should say: Personalization Cancelled
  • Type in #7465625*638*Unlock code# (8 digit unlock code*)
  • Device should say: “Network Lock Deactivated”
  • Phone may automatically reboot

*The 8 digit code can be obtained by calling AT&T Technical Support and given the representative the IMEI number. In exchange they will give you the Subsidy Unlock Code.

To obtain the IMEI number press *#06# on your mobile device.

    Ferbest: The information provided on this post is for directions on the Subsidy Unlock Code. This will allow you to use an GSM operator.

    The Subsidy Unlock Code is a unique 8 digit number for your specific device. There is no generic code for all devices. In order to get the 8 digit number, you will need to provide the IMEI number of your specific device. The directions for this are in the post, above.

    Of course, actually i have the unlock code for my specific device, AT&T gave me it… But my cellphone doesn’t unlock. Do you think they gave a wrong unlock code? There is another way to unlock it? or should i call again to ATT?

    Ferbest: If AT&T gave you the 8 digit unlock code it should work. Try and put in the non-AT&T SIM, what happens?

    I tried to unlock with the code, i turn on with out sim and i type #7465625*638*43614638# and appears a message “Emergency calls only”. The device doesn’t restart and nothing else happens. After i put a non AT&T SIM and the phone doesn’t work…

    Hi, I appreciate this Web site. I knew nothing about unlocking. But the process didn’t work. At&t was great, and they gave me the unlock code. You then unlock the A127 by typing in #0111*——–#, where the dashes are the unlock code. It just worked on my A127, and I am so thankful to everyone.

    max: The 8 digit unlock code is a unique to each specific phone. There is no universal unlock code, you will need to contact AT&T Technical Support or use an Unlocking Service to obtain the code.

    oh man… thank you so much!!! i spent like 4 frustrating hours yesterday calling at&t and samsung to get the damn phone unlocked!!!! it took like 30 seconds using this method… wow, i guess i should have gone to this website first huh? thanks again…

    I’ve purchased Samsung sgh a127 on ebay. phone came without sim card. When I insert my pay as you go sim card, phone powers up and ask’s for sim lock password. Have communicated with seller, and AT&T….. No resolution. Do you have any remedies for the (sim lock) password lost??

    Ron: You are looking for the SIM PUK code. Ask AT&T for it; you may need to read the small numbers on the non-metal side of the SIM card to Customer Support.

    So I unlocked the phone successfully. But when putting in my own working AT&T sim card, it asks for a sim card unlock password. I realize this is probably asking for the SIM’s PKU password, but AT&T’s Customer Service claims it is the phone. A friend gave me this phone, I’m just trying to make it work.

    Steve: Yes, it appears that you need to PUK in order to use the mobile operator’s service. Ask them for the PUK code which is tied to the SIM card, not the device.
