  1. Eric: Thanks for the reply. Yes I paid “full retail price” for my phone but customer service insist that all the phone that work only (locked) with at&t are already at a discouted price… so technically for them a full retail price dosn’t exist. So they said no even if I talked to a supervisor. Yes I am full aware about those site that charge you money to unlock you phone but because of that I am really upset that they KNOW how to unlock my phone without calling at&t customer service and I don’t…

  2. Max: It looks like you were dealing with a Customer Service Rep who is not clear on the rules. You might want to call back and try again. If you need to, you might want to tell them that you’d even be willing to fax in a copy of receipt show that you paid full price. Unless they recently changed the rules, if you pay full retail price, AT&T is obligated to give you the Subsidy Unlock Code.

Hey where do i get some good apps for this phone? This phone is not found on Handango. Is there some where else I can get iPhone style apps for this phone?

  4. Lucas: Try GetJar.

  5. eric: i finally got the network unlock code after calling 4 times from an at&t rep that i guess didnt know about the 6 months rule.. so i did every step you mention on your site and the following message shows up on my phone: THE PHONE IS NOW PHONE FREEZE DEACTIVATION FAILED. What the heck.

  6. Max: After the you enter the subsidy unlock code, did press the “#” key as the final key press?

  7. eric: yes I did. thats when the message shows up.

  8. Max: Others have commented on the same thing. I cannot substantiate from first-hand knowledge, but there is supposedly a “Freeze Code” and “Unfreeze Code”

You might want to contact whom you obtained the Subsidy Unlock Code and ask them again for the correct number.

when someone calls me may call ends up…its always happening wat was that

  10. rosette: Can you be more descriptive about your problem? I’m not quite sure I understand the problem with your phone.

  11. Courtney June 12, 2009

what do i do if everytime i click on the messaging tab it says intializing?? it doesnt let me see txt messages and i cant receive them

  12. Courtney: Not sure I understand. You are trying to view your text messages and it takes a long time to show them? I’m not sure I can help. You might want to turn off the phone, pull out the battery, wait 10 seconds, then put it all back together and turn it on again.

  13. what if my samsung eternity has frozen? how can i unfrozen it? pls help. thanks

  14. rich: Try pulling out the battery and starting up the phone again. If the phone is displaying “Phone Frozen” can you comment exactly what steps you did to get it to this state?

  17. Hello, I’m going to China in about 2 weeks (actually, exactly two weeks. On July 6 :D …) and it’s a class trip (mandarin class)… But I’m wondering if i should even bother unlocking my phone because I probably won’t be using it. Well… (My real question)

*I bought my phone at an ATT store.
*I bought it with my 2 YR Agreement Savings thing (So I’ve been with ATT for pretty much 2 years-ish now)… However, me and my brother ended up not filling out the savings application (sorry, I forgot what it’s called. But it’s a forum or something we got so we can get the discount). Does this mean we payed full price? If it does, will sending in my receipt do anything? (Because it says we still saved $130.00 although we never filled out our application.)
    -

But the actual steps I’ll need to do is:
    1. Call in customer service (Should I do this on a land-line or my phone?)
    2. Tell them I’m going overseas (do I need to provide why?)
    3. give them my IMEI
(Do I absolutely need to fax them in my receipt? Because I don’t have a fax machine, but I can use my neighbor’s as they’re going on the trip as well…)
    And I can’t think of anything else…

    —–
Some other info you might wanna know…
.I’ve had my Eternity since pretty much the end of February (four months-ish?).
.However, I’ve been with ATT for at least 2 years.

Thanks mate, sorry my post is very messy. I’m kind of in a hurry packing and stuff.

    Thanks again!

    Brian

  18. Brian: Contact AT&T Customer Support. Ask to be connected to Technical Support, you will be traveling overseas and need the Subsidy Unlock code. They will look up your account. See what happens, they might be able to give you the code right away!

Will i be able to use the internal gps with google maps are just like att has it where google maps uses cell phone towers

  28. muratnayal July 29, 2009

hi eric, I bought a samsung eternity and paid full price for it from bestbuy yesterday. Couse I want to use this phone in my country (turkey) I consulted a Bestbuy rep and he said to me that activation process is very easy but I can not help you couse we sell at&t products and it is kind of prohibited to give such information to the customers. Just as I arrived my hotel I tried to activate it looking up some websites. But unfortunately after 5 times misentering the phone has been frozen. Do I need an unfreeze code for it? or the phone is totally useless for me :(

  29. kareemomara August 1, 2009

ok so i did all the steps as stated and the phone unlocked just fine. the problem came up as soon as i put in my t-mobile sim card. it requested a sim password and ive tried everthing from 1234, 0000, 00000000 you name it and ive probably tried it. what do you recommend i do?

  30. mobileslate August 1, 2009

kareemomara: You can contact T-Mobile if you are requesting the SIM password. They should be able to provide this to you free of charge. If you are trying to get the Subsidy Unlock code to unlock the handset, there is no universal unlock code, each unlock code is specific to each device. You can also try contacting T-Mobile or using an online subsidy unlock code.

  31. mobileslate August 1, 2009

muratnayal: If you can contact AT&T Technical Support, you can request the subsidy unlock code as you paid full price for the phone. If they need to, you can fax them the receipt.

Can you also tell me what keys you pressed to double-check the unlock process?

  32. mobileslate August 1, 2009

nerdkiller14: You will need to make sure that Google Maps has a version for this device. Not sure which mechanism with Google Maps.

  33. nycolle August 2, 2009

I tried this and it says that the phone is freezed and deactivation failed…what shuld i do?

  34. nerdkiller14 August 2, 2009

  35. muratnayal August 4, 2009

thank you for your prompt reply. I changed my phone with an unlocked one and got over it in a way.

  36. mobileslate August 5, 2009

    muratnayal: Glad that it worked.

  37. mobileslate August 5, 2009

    nerdkiller14: Not sure.

  38. mobileslate August 5, 2009

nycolle: Can you let me know the steps and keys you pressed?

  39. ashleyannie17 October 30, 2009

  41. mobileslate November 17, 2009

bahar: Are you putting the IMEI number as the Unlock Code?

  42. mobileslate November 17, 2009

bahar: Are you putting the IMEI number as the Unlock Code?

  43. mobileslate April 23, 2010

csm2: This is the easiest way. The more difficult way is to find a software program for your PC, then connecting a USB cable to your phone and it will unlock using software.

  44. mobileslate April 23, 2010

KL1054: Please specifically say: Subsidy Unlock Code for my phone.

  45. mobileslate June 4, 2010

JayCee613: If you are currently an AT&T user, you can dial 611. Alternatively, 1-800-331-0500
